June 30, 2020 is the end of the fiscal year; however, for us at Mullen & Filippi it means the end of an era. Following 44 years as an attorney of which 39 years were with Mullen & Filippi, Robert “Bob” Sherman is retiring from practice.
Bob’s career with the firm commenced in 1981. With the practice of law, several opportunities to provide leadership arose of which Bob availed himself. He has managed two offices within the firm and has served two terms, for a total of 12 years, as Chairman of the Firm’s Management Committee. Under his leadership Mullen & Filippi has experienced tremendous growth as he was instrumental in expanding the firm into southern California.
Bob’s background includes a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University in Political Science and International Relations. Such a degree has served him well in his handling of cases and relating to his partners and employees. Bob earned his Juris Doctorate from McGeorge School of Law. While in law school Bob had the opportunity to work as an intern for the California State Employee Association wherein he provided his expertise in drafting potential legislation. He also shared his knowledge of employee rights and benefits with state workers.
Bob has contributed much to the firm over 39 years – through his hiring practices, he has mentored numerous successful attorneys and given them opportunities to practice law and excel in their endeavors. His greatest legacy is creating an environment wherein integrity is valued and required.
We wish you well Bob during this next season of life and multiple traveling opportunities, when the world re-opens! Spain awaits you!
