Career Basics

On February 20, 2007, Kenneth Scott joined Mullen & Filippi. Since then he has become an Associate Partner and a certified workers’ compensation specialist and managed our Fresno Office after having worked in our Bakersfield office for almost nine years. Kenneth also handles subrogation, Labor Code 132a cases, and Serious and Willful Misconduct claims for carriers and employers. After passing the Bar, Ken worked for an large insurance defense firm in the area of civil litigation. He also worked for a short time for the Uninsured Employer’s Fund learning the workers’ compensation business.

Education

Kenneth is a graduate of the University of Pacific where he received two Bachelor of Arts degrees. He was on the board of his fraternity, Alpha Kappa Lambda, and served on the Greek Council. He attended Whittier College School of Law in the Hancock area of Los Angeles for law school where he graduated in the top 10% of his class. Kenneth was the Moot Court Chairperson.

Professional Membership

Kenneth is a member of the California State Bar and the Kern County Bar. He was a member of the Board of Directors and General Counsel for the Arthritis Association. He was also on the Board of Directors for the 20-30 Club in Bakersfield. Kenneth was a voting member of the public policy committee for the Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce.

Personal Note

I was drawn to practice law because the law is both academic and practical. The law requires a thorough pursuit of academic endeavors to succeed but at the same time requires very practical and beneficial efforts to help clients. I chose to practice workers’ compensation law because of the overlap with labor and employment issues and the consequences of injured workers for employers.
My passion has always been sports. I participated in baseball, football, basketball, golf, bowling and tennis. I was never great at the playing but was always very good at the coaching, writing, evaluating, announcing, scoring, or refereeing. My great uncle always thought I was going to be a sports writer. Today, I mostly watch sports. I have joined the Fresno State Bulldogs Dugout Club and regularly now attend all sporting events.
