Mullen & Filippi, LLP Committed to Creating a Diverse, Equitable & Inclusive Culture
Mullen & Filippi is committed to making diversity, equity, and inclusion part of everything that we do. The mission of the Firm is to establish a diverse workplace that fosters a culture of equity and inclusion representing individual differences while providing excellent legal services to our clients in all communities we serve. The DE&I Committee is a representation of this commitment and consists of attorneys and staff at every level of the Firm, each one representing a diverse affinity group. The Committee has launched the following strategic programs consistent with the Firm’s mission:
Advancement and Retention
With a focus on facilitating recruitment, retention and advancement of people of color and LGBTQ: including race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, education, veteran status, disability, socio-economic status, and family and marital status, efforts are underway to enhance our affinity group offerings and create tools to monitor diversity across the Firm. The objective is to create a more connected, successful and open working relationship between diverse groups.
Community Leadership and Outreach
Efforts to recruit Firm members from diverse backgrounds include: hosting and connecting with diverse local Bar Associations and other community organizations. Employment opportunities are sent to Bar Associations serving underrepresented attorneys and other underrepresented groups. Such efforts will provide law students, new attorneys, and those interested in other legal positions the opportunity to network with Firm representatives and become aware of career opportunities and skills necessary for success in the legal profession.
Training and Mentoring
Our Firm has designated a senior partner as a Chief Diversity Officer, who reports directly to all equity partners of the Firm regarding DE&I initiatives. Attorneys and staff undergo formal comprehensive Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion training. Managers and supervisors also receive advanced training to ensure their success as managers, as well as the success of workers in their individual offices. Training is required for all and tracked for completion.
Mentoring and advocating are vital to ensure success in the personal and professional growth of all Firm members. The Firm has a formal mentoring program to assist attorneys and will develop the same for other workers in the organization. Advocating for the success of diverse workers is our goal.
Elevating Women and Underrepresented Groups
Mullen & Filippi is proud of our successful efforts to help advance women and underrepresented individuals in the legal profession and throughout our firm. Currently, we are a majority women-owned law firm with a Management Committee consisting of all minority women. Also, our attorney work force is equally composed of both female and male attorneys with many from ethnically diverse backgrounds.
