Career Basics

Blake Ward joined Mullen & Filippi’s Santa Rosa office in 2021. Before joining M&F, he began his law practice defending workers’ compensation and related claims in San Francisco and in the Peninsula in 2017. Raised in the North Bay, Blake pairs his professional training with his passion for the geographic area within which he practices when advocating on behalf of his clients at the WCAB and other judicial forums.

Education

Blake received his BA in humanities from Dominican University located in Marin County in 2013 where he graduated magna cum laude. Wanting to keep his roots as close to the Redwoods as possible, Blake attended UC Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco where he received his JD in 2016. There, Blake was a competitor, coach, and student board member of the nationally ranked UC Hastings Moot Court Team. In 2015, Blake received 2 best round oralist awards and finished as a national quarterfinalist at the 2015 Jeffrey G. Miller National Environmental Law Moot Court Competition. Also while in law school, Blake did public interest law work for Legal Aid of Marin, and served as a judicial intern to the Hon. Shelly J. Averill of the Sonoma County Superior Court Felony Trial Division.

Personal Note

The constant pursuit of fairness, and the ability to cultivate meaningful, long-term client relationships are the reasons why I have chosen a career in workers’ compensation defense.
When out of the office, I prefer to spend my time mountain biking the single-track trails of Annadel, rooting on Bay Area sports teams, and going on adventures with my wife both near and far.
