Jorge Tena started his career in workers’ compensation in 2019 as an associate for a workers’ compensation defense firm in the San Francisco/Bay Area. He joined Mullen & Filippi’s Bakersfield office in 2022. During and after graduating law school, Jorge also worked for a boutique legal firm specializing in bankruptcy, contract, and real estate litigation.
Jorge earned his bachelor’s degree from Williams College in Massachusetts in 2012, where he majored in Political Science and was a Tyng Scholar. He obtained a Certificate of Advanced Accounting Proficiency (CAAP) from Santa Clara University in 2014, and then received his law degree also from Santa Clara University in 2018. During law school, he received a CALI award for the Secured Transactions course, volunteered as a Certified Law Student at the Katherine & George Alexander Community Law Center, and was a judicial extern for Judge Davila at the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
I find our work in workers’ compensation to be very dynamic and intellectually engaging. We constantly process new and vast quantities information and distill it to develop coherent litigation action plans. No two days are the same. I enjoy this process and the competitiveness of advocating our clients’ interests.
When not at work, I enjoy watching basketball games, going on adventures with my wife and kid, and hanging out with friends and family.
