Career Basics
Keita T. Middleton, a southern CA native, joined the Orange office of Mullen & Filippi in August of 2024. Upon graduating from law school and passing the bar, Keita opened her own firm and practiced a wide range of areas of law, including: immigration, criminal, family, intellectual property, bankruptcy, probate and civil litigation. Out of all the areas of law she has practiced, she enjoys workers’ compensation the most and decided to specialize in this area. She entered the arena of WC law in 2014, starting on the applicant’s side and then shortly crossing over to the defense side, initially assisting uninsured employers, working closely with UEBTF.
Since then, Keita has successfully defended from the biggest retail employers in the nation to small, independent business owners, and everything in between. She is especially equipped to mitigate high exposure claims and vigorously defends her clients by quickly identifying and narrowing down issues, and swiftly moving towards resolution. She appreciates the amount of diversity that comes with practicing workers’ compensation law, as well as the quality of the clientele.
Education
Keita attended California State University, Long Beach and received a B.A. in 1999 with an English literature major and a Political Science minor. In 2006, she received her J.D. from Western State University College of Law, the oldest law school in Orange County. While in law school, she held the office of ABA Representative for the 2003-2004 academic year. In her final year of law school, she worked in the Orange County Public Defender’s Office, as an extern, assisting on high profile cases.
Professional Membership
Keita has been a member of the California State Bar since 2012.
Personal Note
As a child, I knew my calling was to become an attorney, to help those who otherwise could not help themselves. In following this notion, I have volunteered my legal services with the Orange County Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force. My most recent endeavor has been the creation of a non-profit organization named “Aging With Love” (AWL [pronounced ALL]), meant to provide financial resources to those families needing to provide around-the-clock care for a loved one.
When I am not zealously advocating for my clients, I love spending time with my family, writing, doing pilates and traveling globally. I am gearing up to add a 36th country to my list of excursions.
