People often ask me how practicing law differs when working for a large firm versus at a nonprofit organization. Rather than accentuate the differences, I focus on what remains the same: zealous advocacy. Client advocacy can take on many forms, but placing a client’s need above my own doesn’t change. I’ll never compromise the trust my client has that I am fighting for their desired outcome. This remains true whether I’m providing free legal services, taking on a pro bono case, or working on a complex workers’ compensation claim.
If I wasn’t an attorney, I’d strive to be a professional golfer. Indeed, it would be a frustrating career journey, as I am not very good at golf. However, most of my free time is spent playing the game. Golf truly is a practice in mindfulness. Author Dr. Joseph Parent agrees; I am currently reading his book “Zen Golf; A Practice in Mastering the Mental Game of Golf”. Highly recommend the read.
Mullen & Filippi was founded in 1949 to provide counsel to employers, carriers, and third-party administrators in defense of Workers’ Compensation matters.
